Flanagan’s Table: Central Provisions Edition

My two favorites, Flanagan’s Table and Central Provisions teamed up to provide a fantastic friendly feast!
Welcoming everyone were gracious hosts Arlin Smith of Hugo’s and Maddy Landry, middle daughter of barn owner and philanthropist Gail Landry. Helping Chef Gould were his lovely wife Paige, a great chef in her own right and up and coming chef Cyle Reynolds owner of Carbon Catering and sous chef at Nosh

The evening began with a glass of prosecco, wine or wheat beer from Gneiss Brewing. Drinks were accompanied by lovingly created passed canapés: fluke cerviche, spicy shrimp cocktail, and super yummy crab bites. The welcome reception was then followed up by five brilliant courses. Highlights for me were a spicy raw squid salad and a super tender/flavorful/happy lamb porchetta.

A special thanks to fellow diner Matt Giggey, who helped by gathering the table’s candles to aid my limited photography skills. For those looking for another look at this event, the dinner will be featured in December on Bill Green’s Maine.

10 Relentlessly Delicious Courses!

Last night was one of the most epic dinners to have been served at Flanagan’s Table, Maine’s premier wedding destination and hidden pop-up dining paradise. This particular bit of gastronomic excess was helmed by Maine’s own King of Yum, Jason Loring of Nosh and Slab , with help from a couple of Maine’s rising kitchen stars Thomas Pisha Duffly, and Cyle Reynolds.

Course after course seemed to effortlessly flow from the kitchen. What emerged were re-imagined renditions of Nosh classics: ham and cheese, chicken and waffles, poutine! These beautifully crafted full flavor courses surprised and delighted one after another. Pacing and size of each dish was spot on, leaving diners full but mostly capable of sampling each of the 10 courses without need for hospitalization from gastric overload.

It will be hard to top this meal, but for the charitably minded with deep pockets, there are still tickets available for Flanagan’s end of the year charity feast. The ticket price is steep but 100% of money raised goes to help feed hungry children. Tickets may be purchased here

The New York Times Loves Flanagan’s Table Too!

20140224-081430.jpg

Attached is a great article singing the praises of  Gail Landry, and my favorite monthly dinner series Flanagan’s Table. If you ever get a chance to get tickets to one of these events, you should leap at the chance. The dinners are presided over by Gail’s daughter Alex Wight, a dynamo chef in her own right and the best hostess the state of Maine has ever seen! See the New York Times for the full article.

Ps. Love good food and feeding hungry children. Gail and her family are also doing their part to reduce childhood hunger.  Please check out Share Our Strength, they will be auctioning off a celebrity chef dinner at Flanagan’s Table soon.
