Ten Ten Pie

What a great addition to Portland! Ten Ten Pie is a great little neighborhood bakery, restaurant, and market specializing in Asian inspired foods.
On this my first visit I picked up some amazing treats to put together for a weekday brunch with my sweetie.
Starting with the savory I picked up the Chinese sausage croissant, a Nikuman steamed bun with pork and Kimchee and a savory pastry filled with kale and goat cheese. For the sweet I bought the chocolate pudding with miso caramel cream, double chocolate sake cake, and a yummy pop tart like creation topped with almonds and honey.
Everything was really,really good. The chocolate sake cake was amazing! I will definitely be back again.

Little Bigs!!!!

If home is where the heart is, then little Bigs must be my home away from home. I just love them that much! Their donut creations are just so amazing! I can best describe their raised donuts as Crispy fried joy with a pillowy core. Absolutely life affirming bites of happiness!

But wait there’s more! First time visitors please note that their pasties are equally amazing! Golden hand-formed crusts of a dizzying variety, filled with such beautiful things as “real” Texas chili, Thai chicken bursting with flavor and my favorite cheeseburger with tomato jam!!

For those in the know, crossing the bridge in to South Portland means a mandatory stop at this hidden gem!Pictured Below: Pb&J, Glazed Cininmon swirl Stick, Bismarck, Dark chocolate Ganache Raised, Cheeseburger, Texas Chili.

Outliers = Sunday Funday

Today we stopped in at Outliers my favorite spot for brunch in Portland,Maine. I love the cool beautifully designed space,and Ralph Steadman artwork. Overlooking the Casco Bay Bridge, their sidewalk seating is possibly the best place to see and be seen by Portland’s beautiful people. On top of all that they have one of the best brunch menus in the area and their stunning bar tender makes inspired drinks.

My companion and I started by sharing delicious made to order donut holes and a bialy with smoked salmon and sliced heritage tomatoes. Both were fantastic! For my main course I then had the oxtail poutine. What a dish! It was just bursting with savory/meaty flavor and evoked an immediate sense of comfort. So good… so good.
Beverages consumed by me, were a darn fine iced boozy coffee and a corpse reviver that lived up to its name.
Happy,Happy!

Palace Diner- The New King of Hash!

So glad I stopped by the Palace Diner. Maine’s oldest diner is now in the running with Gardner’s A1 to take the title of “Maine’s best chef driven diner”.
I just had the most joyful corned beef hash of my Life! So rich/crusty/yet still surprisingly moist. Seemingly impossible but this hash has it all. Even the chunks of potato in it were perfectly crisped and seasoned. I may never have hash again for fear that I will forevermore be disappointed. Even better yet, my meal came with a yumalicious side of marble rye toast and perfectly cooked farm fresh eggs.
Yippee!
